Product Updates
Wila has announced a few product updates which are taking place.
V-Lock
V-Lock makes it possible to further improve bottom tool clamping and alignment. A groove at the back of the tool tang is used to automatically align bottom tools in X and Y directions, and to firmly clamp them in place. In January, Wila started to incorporate the V-Lock groove into all appropriate bottom tools. Because of inventory conditions, a mixture of bottom tools with and without the V-Lock groove will be supplied for some time. These tools can be used on Tool Holders with or without V-Lock® functionality. Tools with and without V-Lock can be used together. In the second half of 2015, Tool Holders with hydraulic clamping for bottom tools (Crowning & Bottom Tool Holders) will be equipped with the V-Lock functionality as standard.
Universal Hydraulic Connection
As of March 1st all upper Tool Holders (Clamping) featuring hydraulic clamping will be equipped with a factory-installed universal hydraulic connection (Crowning: 1 April). Therefore, you will no longer have to select the required hydraulic connection when placing your order. Tool Holders featuring hydraulic clamping for top tools (Clamping) can be connected on the left or right-hand side using a linear ball screw (also supplied), facing upwards or backwards. Tool Holders featuring hydraulic clamping for bottom tools (Crowning & Bottom Tool Holders) can be connected on the left or right-hand side using a backward-facing banjo coupling (also supplied).
Gaurds
As of 1 March, upper Tool Holders (Clamping) will feature a factory-installed Guard as standard (Crowning: 1 April). Tool Holders in the New Standard Premium range will feature hardened metal Guards with a thickness of approx. 25 mm. Tool Holders in the New Standard Pro or American Style range will feature hardened plastic Guards with a thickness of approx. 15 mm.
Guards for Smart Tool Locator (STL)
If Tool Holders are outfitted with the Smart Tool Locator®, the thickness of the Guard will be approx. 25 mm in all cases.
Guards for Easy to Move (E2M)
All of Wila’s Tool Holders can be supplied (for a small extra charge) with ‘E2M Guards’ featuring a safety device to prevent tools from rolling out accidentally. In all cases, these Guards will be made from hardened metal and have a thickness of approx. 25 mm. Wila strongly recommend using ‘E2M-Guards’ when using tools featuring E2M.
Cover Strips and Rulers
As of March 1st, all upper Tool Holders (Clamping) featuring hydraulic clamping will be fitted with slightly modified Cover strips and rulers (Crowning: April 1st). They will look the same as Cover strips and rulers with STL. The larger size will help to significantly improve legibility of the ruler. Our Tool Holders for bottom tools (Crowning & Bottom Tool Holders) are often outfitted with Ty localized adjustment dials.
