We are considering using thread forming on 22 gauge CRS. Our machine is a Finn C5 with thick turret. Does anyone have any advice/experience as to what the ideal size should be to get maximum pull out strength? We are considering 8-32.
    Thanks,
    Brad

I would not drill either .136 #29, the normal diameter for a cutting tap or .1495 #25 correct in regards to thread forming tap.
Best choice is piercing or friction drill, to extrude material instead of chips for additional thread engagement. You don’t specify material is galvanized, it’s thickness is compensated by the pierce or friction drill.
